New VS remanufactured turbocharger

It is difficult to tell the difference between a new turbocharger and a remanufactured one with a non-professional eye.

The state-of-the-art remanufacture process provides high quality results.

A remanufactured turbocharger is a great alternative and is provided with a warranty and factory settings of a new turbo. And importantly, a remanufactured turbocharger can cost you half the price of a new one.

New turbocharger

Prices for new turbos range from €400 to €2,000. If price is not a problem, then it is reasonable to install a new turbocharger in a relatively new vehicle with low mileage.

Pros
  • You save time
  • You get a manufacturer’s warranty
Cons
  • Price. A new turbocharger can cost twice as much as a remanufactured one

NB! Before replacing the turbocharger

It should be taken into account that the functioning of the turbine is inextricably linked to the engine and vice versa: engine malfunctions can put the turbine out of operation, but also driving with a faulty turbocharger can damage the engine.

So, it is important to identify and fix the cause of the breakdown of the previous unit to avoid a repeat of the situation.

Before installation, make sure to check the vehicle’s exhaust, air and oil systems.

If you fail to do so, there is a risk of foreign objects getting into the new turbocharger, causing the unit to break down instantly.
